The West Bengal Pollution Control Board has developed a Sensor-based Air Quality Monitoring Station, Noise Monitoring Terminal (NMT) and display board at Asutosh College, Second Campus, Bhasha. This is being used to better manage the state's air and noise  pollution levels. Through this system, Air Quality, Noise Quality in dB(A), AQI, Relative Humidity and Temperature data representing broad trends in regional air pollution can be accessed.

  1. This continuous air quality monitoring system is a sensor-based system used to measure and record air pollutants such as PM10, PM2.5, SO2, and NO2.
  2. Air quality monitoring systems and NMT are installed in government buildings and educational institutions.
  3. The sensor-based system consists of sensors, a data logger, a communications network, and software for data analysis.
  4. The sensors measure air quality parameters including Particulate Matter Concentration, Gaseous Pollutant Concentration and meteorological parameters including Temperature, Relative humidity, Wind Direction and Wind Speed.

The State Board has made its data publicly available for Researchers and Educationists through its online website (https://aqmsdata.wbpcb.gov.in/) and West Bengal Paribesh App.
