অনন্যা (Ananya) - is a unique initiative under the Women Empowerment and Gender Equity Cell of our college, dedicated to create a meaningful platform for recognition and uplifting of women within our college community—those whose capabilities often go unnoticed, undervalued, or remain untapped.
Rooted in the belief that meaningful change begins with acknowledgement, অনন্যা (Ananya) was launched in 2024 as a humble yet heartfelt effort at bringing such stories to the fore. In its inaugural year, the initiative honoured four exceptional women (Dr. Anupama Chowdhury, Principal, Women's College, Calcutta, Dr. Debarati Chakraborty, Assistant Professor, Presidency University, specialising in Performing Arts, Namrata Chakraborty, Research Scholar, University of Calcutta, Pew Roy, Senior Assistant Editor, TV9 Bangla) whose work and spirit resonated deeply with the vision of অনন্যা (Ananya) . Their journeys—marked by excellence, and quiet determination, set the tone for what অনন্যা (Ananya) stands for.
Many women possess quiet strength and remarkable promise across a range of domains, yet their journeys unfold away from the spotlight—devoid of the recognition or encouragement they rightfully deserve. অনন্যা (Ananya) seeks to bridge this gap by offering structured mentorship, skill-development programmes, and formal avenues of recognition, thereby enabling these women to embrace their potential, step into their own light and pursue their aspirations with confidence.
Vision
We envision a campus culture where every woman is seen, heard, and celebrated.
অনন্যা (Ananya) aspires to become a beacon of inclusive empowerment that redefines success beyond conventional metrics, by honouring resilience, creativity, courage, and quiet determination. We dream of building a legacy where women uplift women, and every story of struggle becomes a story of strength.
Mission
- To identify women within the Asutosh College community—students, faculty, and non-teaching staff—whose potential remains untapped or unexplored;
- To create a nurturing and inclusive environment where hidden talents of the women of Asutosh College can be explored, and honed with confidence;
- To provide mentorship, and guidance, especially to those women who lack support or direction;
- To build a culture of self-belief and self-worth;
- To celebrate journeys of quiet resilience and to acknowledge contributions that often go unnoticed;
- To build a sustainable, women-led support system that thrives on empathy and empowerment;
- To recognise and highlight inspiring narratives each year—across academics, creative pursuits, social engagement, and sports, and to inspire others by bringing these stories to light.
