Health Care Unit
INTRODUCTION
Asutosh College Health Care Unit is an on-campus service for the College students and the staff. Located on the ground floor of Asutosh College Humanities Block, the Health Care Unit provides high-quality primary health care services to the students and staff of Asutosh College.
It is a non-profit Unit fully funded by Asutosh College for the necessity of the students as well as the teaching and non-teaching staff. The Unit was set up to facilitate the first aid to the ailing student or staff under the supervision of our doctor for preliminary diagnoses and medication.
The Unit was established with an aim to cater first-hand immediacy and check up, and is open during the office hour of the College. Asutosh College Health Care Unit occasionally arranges health check up camps in associations with the College departments (such as the Department of Biochemistry and others), Asutosh College Students’ Union, other bodies, blood banks and hospitals.
THE BEGINNING
The Health Care/Medical Unit at Asutosh College was launched in 01/07/2016 as part of the concluding programme of the year-long celebrations of the Institution’s Centenary. It is located on the Ground Floor of the Humanities Block.
The unit started working with Dr. Chandra Chowdhuri, Associate Professor in Chemistry, Dr. Sajal Bhattacharya, Associate Professor in Zoology and other members from 2016.
OBJECTIVES
- To provide medical care under the supervision of our doctor and nurse.
- To make primary diagnosis and initial medication.
- To suggest and refer, in case of emergency, to hospitals.
- To generate awareness among students and staff through organising health check-up camps and blood donation camps.

- 07.09.2016: Estimation of Blood Sugar of College staff: 70 members of staff participated.
