Asutosh College : Institutional Distinctiveness
INTRODUCTION
- Sparsha (touch), a Tea Club initiative, aims at the overall wellness and well-being of all segments of the institution. The senior retired teachers are taken care of by the existing members year-round by being in touch with them, providing them with support for medical check-up, home delivery of essential medicines at subsidized rate.
- The existing members have various activities to keep them physically and mentally fit like yoga sessions for dealing with workplace stress, the annual Tea Club reunion with retired teachers, ‘ilish utsav’ (enjoying the delicacy of ‘Hilsa’ fish) with everyone’s birthdays being remembered and observed by the college with a card, pen and flowers.
- The non-teaching members’ birthdays are also celebrated as part of this initiative. They are supported by GPF, ready loans from the cooperative at low interest, winter garments besides getting free medical assistance from E.S.I.
- Academically bright students have various awards to motivate them further while the economically weaker get financial support and assistance like fee concession, free provision of books etc to continue their education. The Tea club has also initiated a programme to felicitate and motivate the economically weaker students.
