About the Committee

INTRODUCTION

Asutosh College offers postgraduate courses to cater the need for higher studies. The first Post Graduate Course, Environmental Science, was started in Asutosh College in 2002 under the affiliation of University of Calcutta. Later, Post Graduate courses on Geography (2009), Zoology (2009), Bengali (2011), Geology (2014), and Computer Science (2014) were gradually introduced under the affiliation of University of Calcutta. Initially all these courses had academic autonomy and were conducted by a Board of Studies approved by University of Calcutta,  which conducted admission and examinations in all PG Departments in Asutosh College. Since 2018, University of Calcutta has been directly conducting these Courses.  

THE BEGINNING

Since the inception of PG Courses, Admission and Examination were handled by Dr. Parthasarathi Ghosh (Chemistry), with active support of Dr. Sajal Bhattacharya, Associate Professor in Zoology and convener of the PG Studies of the College.

Later in 2016, a formal Post Graduate Office has been set up in the newly constructed Centenary Building of the College from where all PG related works are being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sajal Bhattacharya, Associate Professor in Zoology & Convener, Committee for PG Studies in association with Dr. Chandramalli Sengupta, Associate Professor, Department of Bengali and Examination in-charge of Post Graduate Studies in our College. From 2016, the Post Graduate Office is run by Dr. Chandramalli Sengupta, Associate Professor, and Department of Bengali.

OBJECTIVES  

  • To cater the need for higher studies.
  • To enable the mind of the students towards research.
  • To enable the students to embrace specialized fields for future welfare.
  • To acquaint the students with the globalised curriculum.

INSFRASTRACTURE

We have a Post Graduate Office at 22, Kalighat Road, where we conduct all PG related activities namely admission, arrangement of examination (under University of Calcutta), distribution of mark sheets, provisional documents, preparation for diploma and Convocation, so that students can get all services from a single window.
