MODULE 2

Cell and Mole- cular Biology

Basic idea of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell, concept of cell cycle, cell death, senescence. Introduction to cancer biology.

Tools and techniques of advanced molecular biology, DNA fingerprinting, chromosome analysis.

Applications of genetic engineering and recombinant DNA technology in medicine, forensic studies, archaeol- ogy, agriculture and industry.

MODULE 3

Analytical and Clinical Bio- chemistry

Clinical significance of blood glucose variations: Dia- betes mellitus

Cardiovascular diseases and tests related to that. Lipoproteins: Composition, functions, significance.
Significance of liver function test, renal function test and urine analysis.

  1. Collection, separation and storage of blood.
  2. Estimation of blood glucose and study of lipid profile
