INTRODUCTION

It is hereby notified that a rowing unit of Asutosh College under Calcutta Rowing club has been formed w.e.f. 23/05/2022.

Following members are requested to arrange a meeting among themselves:  

Asutosh College is a pioneering institute in the field of education for more than hundred years serving the society. This glorious institution has always valued sports and games which help students to reach a different platform of recognition in the society apart from curricular activities. The benefits of the college sports are to make connections to meet new people every year. It also helps to keep the students healthy and fit. The students explore, discover and develop new interest over a period of time. Sports also teach valuable time management skills. A sport also inculcates a competitive mindset, the ability to communicate within a team and develop leadership quality.

Sports and games comprise competitive physical activity which through casual or organized participation, aims, to maintain or improve the physical ability and skills while providing entertainment to participants and spectators.

It is a matter of pride for a college to have its own rowing unit under Calcutta Rowing club since 1945 and this unit was actively participated till 1959. In the year of 1948, 1954, 1955, 1956 and 1957 our students were winner of Inter-Collegiate Pair-Oars Championship organized by Calcutta Rowing Club. The activity of the unit was less for the pandemic situation.

Calcutta rowing club and rowing unit of Asutosh College has become active again in 2022 and also reformed with new committee members with new energy.
