Seminar Library (Humanities) Development Committee (2017 Onwards)

About us

The Committee is responsible for managing the activities of the Seminar Library collections of the following Humanities departments:

  • Bengali
  • Economics
  • English
  • History
  • Philosophy
  • Political Science
  • Sanskrit
  • Sociology

Members of the committee are drawn from all the eight departments. Two members of the college non-teaching staff assist in the running and maintenance of the library which houses a wonderfully rich collection of books designed to appeal and be of use to both students and teachers. The collections are re-organised with new titles added and some discarded in keeping in mind the needs of the syllabi.

The current location of the Seminar Library Humanities) is on the 2nd floor of the college Main Building in what used to be called the Honours wing. It has been renovated and thoroughly refurbished to maximise space utilization. Each department has been allocated shelves to house their book collection. Members of faculty may also make use of rudimentary reading room facilities available within the limited space.

Students, accompanied by their respective departmental library-in-charge, and all members of faculty have access to the facilities which mainly has to do with the issuing of books.
