Historically, women and queer members of our society were always disadvantaged because of their biological sex and this disadvantage can and should be overthrown in any civilised society. Women empowerment and sensitization of issues concerning every gender become an important pre-requisite for sustainable development. Asutosh College believes in the idea of gender-equity, providing autonomy to women, nurturing potential women leadership roles in the institution and moving towards a holistic development of personality. In order to sensitize students and staff about gender discrimination and disparity, the college diligently organises seminars, workshops and awareness programmes. In the current pandemic situation webinars have been organised that has witnessed keen participation. The idea here is to instil the spirit of ‘Naari- Shakti’at a tender age through education, targeted awareness programs, gender-sensitization workshops, relevant video sessions and by organising special lectures of erudite personalities from across various walks of life. From menstrual hygiene to leadership training programs, the Women Empowerment Cell of Asutosh College strives to bring all round development required for the empowerment.

After the landmark judgement of Supreme Court of India in 1997 (Vishaka& others vs. the State of Rajasthan & others) which established a strict mandate against sexual violence in workplace and educational institutions, Asutosh College is committed to uphold the Constitutional mandate ensuring the protectionagainst any form of sexual harassment.
