TRAVEL AND TOURISM

Course Objective:

  1. This is a multidisciplinary career oriented course. It has been designed to ensure rewarding employment for students. It provides a perfect gate way to look beyond the conventional syllabus and gain valuable skills in the process.
  2. In the present scenario tourism is the fastest growing industry and creating opportunities in the areas of employment. Students will have gainful career scope.
  3. The course would train students in developing communication skill, project management, cross cultural awareness. This would be useful for developing public communication.
  4. As a student you would be trained about sustainable tourism and how you can mitigate the negative impacts of travel on the environment. You will have an idea how to contribute through creation of jobs with fair wages and environment protection.

Tourism concept and impact: definition and historical development of tourism, types of tourists( visitors, excursionist), types and forms of tourism, tourism system: nature, characteristics

Module : 2 Hours: 20 hrs

Domestic and International tourism:

Domestic: features, patterns of growth
International: tourist generating and destination tourismmotivation and factors

Module : 3  Hours: 15hrs

Tourism  organization: objectives and role of ITDC,IRCTC,TFCI. An overview of national and international organization and association: IATO,TAAI,WTO,IATA

Module : 4 Hours: 10hrs

Understanding of built heritage: ancient, medieval and modern architecture

Module :5Hours: 15hrs

Special interest tourism products and Performing art of India: classical dances, folk dances and folk culture Handicrafts and textiles of India, Fairs and Festivals of India

Module :6  Hours: 5 hrs

Tourism Impacts Positive and Negative Impacts of Tourism: Economic, Socio-Cultural, and Environmental Impact
